ABOUT OUR DOCTOR

Chiropractor in Tuckahoe, Virginia

Dr. Andy Lombardozzi

I was born and raised in Worcester Massachusetts, known as “the heart of the commonwealth.” I am the sixth child of seven children. Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoy being outside hiking through the woods, enjoying nature and fishing whenever possible. I can still remember every afternoon watching the nature documentary “Wild, Wild World of Animals” and thought that perhaps I’d work somewhere in a field that involved nature and the outdoors, like biology. I still have a great love of nature and the outdoors. Anyone who has been to the office can attest to the many plants and flowers I have been able to squeeze into the space. I am also an avid runner when weather permits.

When I was eleven, I was in a serious bike accident. I was hit by a car and knocked unconscious into an intersection. The ER revealed no broken bones, but I couldn’t walk for a week because of the pain. My parents went the “traditional” medical route of drugs and bed rest because that was the best option they knew.

However, this traditional method never dealt with the underlying problems. I suffered from back pain for the next decade, up until my first chiropractic adjustment at age 20, which truly changed the way I looked at health. I was finally pain free! But I still had a ways to go before I made my way to chiropractic school.

After high school, I attended Worcester State College where I received my bachelor of science in biology. I began looking for jobs in the field of wildlife biology and found that careers in “wildlife” were few and far between, consisting of only research or teaching. So for the next four years, I worked doing biological research on the safety of new drugs and then for a geotechnical company studying soil properties concerning Boston’s “big dig”, a huge endeavor to improve the highways in and out of Boston.

This work did not truly satisfy my passion for nature that I had been searching for in a career. Still uncertain on what it was I truly wanted to do the rest of my life, I called my older brother Frank who had been a practicing Chiropractor for five years down in Virginia Beach. He asked that I make a trip down and spend the day in his office to see what it was like being a Chiropractor.

What I remember most about hanging out at my brothers office was the gratitude all his patients expressed during their visits. My brother explained more in detail what chiropractic was, how it worked, and the many benefits it provided without the use of drugs and surgery. The visit with my brother, and my own personal experience under chiropractic care set the stage for me to become a chiropractor. Doctors of Chiropractic respect and work with the body’s innate healing intelligence by addressing what is truly causing dis-ease or symptoms and working with the patient on other lifestyle changes to correct it, allowing normal homeostasis and function. This principle and approach to health is what ultimately led me to do what I do, and I love it! Chiropractic worked for me after my accident, and has continued to work for me throughout my life. If I did not truly know that chiropractic works, I would not have dedicated my life to the practice. This is my story. I encourage you to visit Tuckahoe Family Chiropractic and tell me yours.
